Design and production support for the region’s flagship tourism celebration.
Managed by Blackberry Events on behalf of the West Midlands Growth Company, the West Midlands Tourism Awards celebrate the people and businesses driving the region’s visitor economy. The annual event brings together hundreds of tourism professionals and is hosted at major venues in the region.
Blackberry Events partnered with Hague & Gray, to create a cohesive suite of event materials for the 2024 and 2025 award ceremonies, spanning print, large-format, and digital design. The creative direction needed to capture the prestige of the Birmingham based awards while maintaining consistency with West Midlands Tourism Awards branding.
The brief
The project required a comprehensive visual toolkit that balanced impact, professionalism, and practicality. Deliverables included:
- Event brochure design and artwork for print
- Large-scale fabric wall backdrop for the stage area
- A1 seating plans for guest navigation
Our approach
We worked closely with Blackberry Events to understand the venue layouts, brand guidelines, and logistical requirements. The design direction evolved from the established West Midlands Tourism Awards identity, refined through clean typography, a balanced colour palette, and subtle geometric textures that conveyed energy and regional pride.
Each asset was designed with both visual impact and usability in mind, ensuring clarity at scale, logical hierarchy, and accurate sponsor representation. Our team applied meticulous attention to print production details, optimising every file for bleed, resolution, and colour consistency to guarantee quality reproduction under stage lighting.
Key deliverables
- 36-page printed event brochure featuring awards categories, menus, and entertainment details
- 5m-wide branded fabric wall graphic for the main stage backdrop
- A1 printed seating plans with clear mapping for 300+ guests
- Print-ready artwork and production liaison with event partners
Results and impact
The 2024 awards event achieved a cohesive, polished visual presentation that elevated the guest experience and reflected the prestige of the occasion. The success of that collaboration led to a continued partnership for the 2025 awards, building on the established design system while refreshing layouts and sponsor integration.
